An Operating System is the fundamental software which manages a PC. It handles the way your hardware behaves, the communication with peripheral devices like a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between apps, as well as the prioritization of applications if several run concurrently. Each program that's installed on a computer system functions by sending requests to the OS for different services by using an application program interface (API). The communication with the OS is possible through a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the Internet hosting field, the OS is what commands a hosting server as well as any software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but, in addition any other application for example a VOIP or a game server. When there're virtual machines created, they work with a guest OS that runs on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers Hosting

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server plans - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they are cost-free so they won't increase the price of your new server, but also because they are extremely secure and stable. Each of them is supported by a huge community of web developers, so you will be able to choose from a myriad of software packages that you may install on your server in case the application that you would like to employ has certain requirements. The Operating System will also determine what internet hosting Control Panel you can use because the Control Panels that we offer run on specific OSs only and because we would like to give you as much versatility as possible, we offer multiple OSs and multiple Control Panels. In case you get a server with a certain Operating System, we can change it upon request in the event that it turns out that you will need another one. We could also keep your OS updated weekly as part of our additional Managed Services upgrade.
